Umbrellaland
A tensegrity is a type of structure that finds its equilibrium of forces on a homogeneous distribution of members and cables which are working strictly and exclusively in compression or tension. Conceptually, a tensegrity can be defined as a structural field.
This project uses tensegrity-like structures to establish continuous spatial fields able to accept and encourage a wide array of social, cultural, and programmatic diversity.
All research work was completed through the use of small scale study models during a residency at The MacDowell Colony.
